I will be exhibiting at Bocs, Caernarfon, in June. Here is a sneak peak of what to expect...
This work has grown from studying the wool caught in fences – an
image so common place in Wales it is embedded in the landscape. Every fence you
pass will have organic matter lodged within a knot of man-made wire. If you
look closely at these threads you will see a miniature installation in each
bundle.
My sculptures enlarge the tiny arrangements within these parcels. Observing
the structures, which are defined by light and shadow, these details form the
basis for visceral experimentation. I work instinctively following linear
patterns as the blueprint for defining a larger installation. The work is an expansion
of the microcosm - drawing with lines and blowing-up encased knots to sculpt magnified
installations.
